Wheels of Soul Big Summer Tour Announced

Legendary Rock Blues Artist Hot Tuna Joins Tedeschi Trucks Band on “Wheels of Soul” Tour 2017

Tedeschi Trucks Band has announced the third installment of their wildly popular Wheels of Soul Summer Tour. The 12-piece ensemble led by husband and wife Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks will be supported on all dates by longtime friends and collaborators Hot Tuna ( Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady and drummer Justin Guip) and masters of soulful folk, The Wood Brothers. The tour is scheduled to hit many of the country’s premier outdoor venues on the most ambitious Wheels of Soul tour to date July 1 through 31st, 2017. For the latest ticket on-sale information, please visit http://tedeschitrucksband.com/.

When asked about joining Wheels of Soul this year Jorma offered excitement and praise, “Tedeschi Trucks is arguably one of the greatest bands in the world today. It is an honor for me and my Hot Tuna brothers to be part of this great tour.” Jorma Kaukonen of Hot Tuna crossed pathes with Derek and Susan early in their careers and their mutual admiration and kinship grew as Jorma supported TTB on select shows this past year.

For more than four decades, Hot Tuna has played, toured, and recorded some of the best and most memorable acoustic and electric music ever. No one has more consistently led American music for the last 50 years than Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady, the founders and continuing core members of Hot Tuna. At the 2016 Grammys, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady were honored with Lifetime Achievement awards. The two boyhood pals have wavered in one of the most enduring friendships in Rock history. They are a force in American music.

The Oakland Press deemed Wheels of Soul “The best musical hang of the season…a celebration of kindred creative spirits,” while Denver Westword calls TTB’s summer package “A wall of talent on stage.”

    Return to the Jubilee!

The Hot Tuna gang is excited to announce the return of Acoustic/Electric Hot Tuna(2 sets) to the 2017 Dark Star Orchestra Jubilee! The folks at All Good Presents put on a fantastic show. And this year’s lineup is stellar! Check it out

Looking Forward to a New Year!

Happy New Year! What a long strange trip 2016 has been!

The past year has been simultaneously long and short. Of course, the election fracas made the year drag along. And the deaths of Prince, David Bowie, Glenn Fry and others gave us all heavy hearts. The passing of Paul Kanter and Signe Anderson hit very close to home. That rocked the house for sure.

All that made the highlight of 2016 all the more special and rewarding. It was a honor to accept the GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of Jefferson Airplane, our band mates, our brothers and sisters and all of our fans.

It has always been the music that helped us move forward, got us through the years and brought us closer together. I am grateful for the music. Here’s to making music in 2017. Hot Tuna gets back at it in February with some shows in my neighborhood, the West Coast! Much Peace and Love for all of you in 2017!

    In Case You Missed It

In case you missed it, Jack and Jorma caught fire with the Jefferson Airplane set at the GRAMMYS Salute to Musical Legends show broadcasted last week on PBS. Members of the Jefferson Airplane were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards. Marty Balin was absent from the show and Grace Slick chose not to sing so it was up to Jorma and Jack to represent, and man did they ever. Their three song set was great. Check out their performance at the 38:15 mark. Watch Jorma tear into his Gibson ES-345.
