Everyone on the Bus! Hot Tuna hits the road for a summer tour through the midwest. The last stop on the tour is Fur Peace Ranch for the Arts and Minds festival. Hot Tuna Hits the Road and Hot Tuna’s 2010 NYC Beacon Show hits the Internet

Master Hot Tuna Archivist, Jason Greenberg, has put together a new website that list the shows available in the live release catalog. It’s called He has also released a 24bit (better than CD quality) recording of the 2010 NYC Beacon shows (Jorma’s 70th B-day!). Check it out at HDTracks.

Hot Tuna hits the road for some sizzling summer fun with Leon Russell. Acoustic Hot Tuna will be playing this first four gigs of this run. For the remaining four shows, Electric Hot Tuna will be taking the stage with special guests Larry Campbell, Teresa Williams and Justin Guip on drums.

Wood Forum Features Jack’s Acoustic Bass – The Diana Bass

Tom has been commissioned by Jack to develop and create an acoustic bass guitar in memory of his wife Diana Balfour Casady who passed in 2012. The feature describes how “The Diana Bass” is a truly unique instrument from its design, materials and even its finish. It’s a good read. It will make you want to go out and buy one! Yeah man, Liquid Flurries at McCabe’s… awesome review of Ho Tuna’s second night at McCabe’s in Santa Monica. Michael Finkelstein highlights some of the magic on the latest Hot Tuna Tour.

Here’s a snipet of Finkelstein’s review:

On Sunday they proved that it’s not entirely the volume or distortion that makes the rockin’ songs swing, it’s also how the guitar and bass contrast. The key to it seemed to be in Jack’s timely lowest notes, which would rumble beautifully and surge forth to pump the changes up into something huge.

Jack’s Acoustic Bass Guitar – The Diana Bass – Ribbecke Guitar Studio

Jack Casady commissioned renowned master luthier Tom Ribbecke to develop an acoustic bass guitar in tribute to Jack’s wife Diana. Tom collaborated with accomplished bass guitar player Bobby Vega to come up with a unique design that would deliver the rich tone of a double bass but also the bark and bite of the Jack’s Signature Epiphone Bass. Below is a blog interview recorded at the Ribbecke studio in Healdsburg, CA that goes into detail about Jack’s vision, his early influences and his experiments in developing tone and sound in his early bass guitars. It also conveys Jack’s love and devotion to his music and his wife, Diana. Good stuff. Check it out.
