In Loving Memory – Diana Balfour Casady

Diana Balfour Casady June 11, 1947 - September 08, 2012

Jack would like to thank EVERYONE for their love and support during these very difficult times. It has been a long and arduous September, from leaving the tour, cancelling shows, making heart-wrenching decisions and enduring the long wait. It has been heartbreaking. Jack has made it through because of all the incredible people who make the end of life as comfortable and peaceful as possible. Jack’s heart goes out to all the doctors, nurses and hospice care personnel who’s mission is to make dying a peaceful and dignified experience. God Bless you all.

If you would like to leave a comment, you can visit the memorial website that Vanessa and the Fur Peace staff set up to honor Diana. Thanks again, to all the fans, friends and family who have supported Jack and Diana through this whole process.

Peace and Love

Friends on the Road

Jorma, Marty and jack

The Hot Tuna Gang has been on the road for the past couple of weeks traveling up and down the east coast. The last leg of our tour is taking us out west and into the pacific northwest. Traveling on the road can be tough. It is always good to see familiar faces that remind you of home.

One such face is Marty Balin. We got a chance to visit with Marty on our stop in Tampa. Marty is doing great and recently released a rocking new CD called, The Witcher.

Keep on Rocking Marty!

Epiphone Releases Limited Edition Jack Casady Silverburst Signature Bass

Nashville, TN, June 15, 2012 –
Epiphone Guitars is proud to announce the new, Limited Edition Jack Casady Signature Bass. The best-selling Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass is universally recognized for its superb, balanced tone and responsiveness. Epiphone now offers bassists the new Jack Casady Signature Bass in a limited-edition Silverburst color finish.

“My primary instrument is the one that I get the most variety of tone out of, The Epiphone JC Bass. That’s the one that I strive to use the most,”  said Casady.  “And it’s an instrument that I want to play, I pick it up and I’m always happy with the way it sounds.  It’s a great bass!”

Legendary bassist Jack Casady worked closely with Epiphone to design the Jack Casady Signature Bass – an instrument with a superb, balanced electric tone and sound. Jack Casady’s bass is a favorite of professional players in every genre including Brian Ray of Paul McCartney’s band, One Republic’s Brent Kutzle and Josh Paul of Daughtry.

The semi-hollow Limited Edition Jack Casady Signature Bass captures the unique characteristics of the original model including; a hand-set mahogany neck with a 1960’s rounded profile, black covered JCB-1™ low impedance and output pickup and employs a three-position VariGain™ switch. The exclusive Limited Edition Jack Casady Signature Bass comes complete with Casady’s trademark signature on the headstock and is available at authorized Epiphone retailers worldwide beginning July 2012 for the U.S. MSRP of $1,165. This 2012 production run is limited to a maximum of 500 pieces.

“The Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass is the best-selling bass in our product line” said Jim Rosenberg, President of Epiphone. “Like the Jack bass, the Silverburst color is iconic and really works well with this design. We’ve never offered it in this color so now’s the chance for bass players to grab one before they’re all gone.”

Classic Style
The Epiphone Limited Edition Jack Casady Signature Bass features a classic semi-hollow body design with a maple top, back and sides with elegant single-ply cream binding on the top and back. The hand-set mahogany neck has a 1960’s era rounded profile and features a 34″ scale with a rosewood fingerboard, a 12″ radius and a 1.50″ nut. The iconic Epiphone “E” is featured on the 2-ply truss rod cover and pick guard.

Signature Sound
The Jack Casady Signature Bass features a black covered JCB-1™ low impedance pickup and employs a three-position VariGain™ switch to shape the sound and output levels. The “50” position is great for direct studio recording or for an acoustic-like tonal purity whereas the “500” offers a fatter tone that’s great for blues, jazz or rock. The “250” position falls right between the two.

Road-Ready Hardware
The Jack Casady Signature Bass features nickel hardware, die-cast “Clover” bass tuners, and a 3-point adjustable bridge exactly like what the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer uses on-stage.
