Visiting with the Past, Present and Future

Acoustic Hot Tuna wrapped up its August tour with some stops in Florida:

  • 08/03/11 Vinyl Music Hall Pensacola, FL
  • 08/04/11 The Plaza Live Orlando, FL
  • 08/05/11 Revolution Live Ft. Lauderdale, FL
  • 08/06/11 Skipper’s Smokehouse Tampa, FL

When we rolled into Tampa, for our show at Skipper’s Smokehouse, our very good friend, Marty Balin, met us at the venue. It was great to see Marty. Wished we could have spent more time with him. There is so much space to cover.

Marty lost his wife, Karen Deal, in a tragic accident last year. She was a wonderful woman, full of life and music. She was the keyboard player for the 1980’s Tampa area band, the Mod Squad. Peace and Blessings to her family and to Marty.

We also got to see former Fur Peace Ranch students, Colin Rocker and Zac Greenburg, a.k.a. Burlap Macks. The Burlap Macks are very talented young musicians with old souls. They put their own spin on the Americana sound and make new songs sound old and old songs sound new. It’s good stuff so be sure to check them out. They also do a kick ass version of Good Shepherd.

Here’s how the old guys do it:
